Description: * Yerba Prima developed Psyllium Husks formulations to provide the highest cleansing activity of all fibers. Psyllium Husks formulations help to promote regularity, lower cholesterol and are 4-8 times stronger than oat bran, and is a concentrated source of natural dietary fiber. A daily fiber intake of at least 25 grams is recommended for good health, but on average people consume only 10 to 15 grams.
Psyllium Whole Husks are an economically priced fiber, with good bulking action. The bulking action of Psyllium Whole Husks is equal to about 80% of the bulking action of Yerba Prima‚s Psyllium Husks Powder. Psyllium Whole Husks are preferred by some users because they gel-up more slowly than Psyllium Husks Powder.
Cautions: A very small percentage of individuals, particularly health care providers who have been occupationally exposed to psyllium dust, may develop a sensitivity. This sensitivity may result in an allergic reaction. If you experience a strong reaction, with difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product, seek immediate medical attention.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Swell Volume: For products with only psyllium husks, the USP requires a minimum of 40 ml/g swell volume, a measure of how absorbent the fiber is. Yerba Prima Psyllium Husks far exceeds the standard with a normal swell volume of 50 to 65 ml/g, which means that it is absorbing 50 to 65 times its weight in liquid and waste materials as it passes through the digestive system.
