Description: * Jarrow Formulas Resveratrol 100™ contains 100 mg. of resveratrols (3,4,5-trihydroxystilbenes) and resveratrolglucosides (piceids) extracted from Huzhang (tiger cane) root. Polygonum extracts have a history of usage in traditionaleastern medicine as cardiotonics.
Resveratrol is a naturally occurring phytoalexin. Phytoalexins are chemical substances produced by plants as a defense against environmental stresses and infection by pathogenic microorganisms, such as fungi. Studies suggest that resveratrol demonstrates potent antioxidant activity and may be associated with a reduced risk of cancer.
As an antioxidant, resveratrol may protect cardiovascularfunction by inhibiting LDL oxidation, upregulating nitricoxide synthesis, and protecting the integrity of capillaries.
Resveratrol has also been studied for its ability to activate Phase 2 detoxification enzymes, to maintain healthy cell replication, and prostate health in men.
