Description: * GlycemaFit™

Fiber35 Diet GlycemaFit™ contains chromium GTF, L-taurine, cinnamon bark extract and other natural ingredients to be used with the Fiber35 Diet reduced calorie and exercise program.

The Fiber35 Diet's GlycemaFit™ ingredients are:

  • CHROMIUM GTF (YEAST SOURCE)
In the 1950s, it was found that brewer’s yeast contained a glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which prevented laboratory animals from developing diabetes. GTF came to be viewed as the biologically active form of trivalent chromium. Chromium GTF has been recognized since the 1970s as an essential nutrient required for normal carbohydrate metabolism. It is now known that chromium may potentiate insulin action, though the exact mechanism by which this is accomplished has not been definitively identified. It has been shown that chromium deficient diets lead to unfavorable effects on glucose tolerance, insulin and glucagons in subjects with mildly impaired glucose tolerance.

  • L-TAURNINE
Taurine increases the excretion of cholesterol by converting it to bile. This is thought to have the net effect of improving insulin resistance. One study showed that insulin resistance, as well as fat accumulation and hyperglycemia, were significantly lower in the test group that supplemented with taurine than in the control group that took no supplements. In vitro studies have shown that taurine enhances insulin secretion by fetal islets. One animal study concluded that, “Taurine supplementation may be an effective treatment for glucose intolerance and fat/lipid accumulation observed in type-2 diabetes with associated obesity.

  • CINNAMON BARK EXTRACT
Cinnamon (taken in doses of 1, 3 or 6 grams per day) has been clinically shown to reduce blood sugar, triglycerides, LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and total cholesterol in subjects with type 2 diabetes. (Diabetes Care 26:3215-3218,2003).

  • FENUGREEK SEED EXTRACT
Fenugreek has traditionally been used as an anti-diabetic agent. In fact, it is the number one most recommended anti-diabetic herb in Morocco and second most recommended herb in Quebec. Clinical studies have confirmed the efficacy of fenugreek as a hypoglycemic (blood sugar-lowering) and hypolipidemic (blood fat-lowering) agent.

  • GYMNEMA LEAF EXTRACT
Animal studies suggest that Gymnema may lower blood sugar levels. Preliminary human studies conclude that the herb may have the long-term effect of managing blood sugar levels in both type 1 and type 2 diabetics when used as an adjunct to drug therapy.

  • BITTER MELON EXTRACT
Animal studies have shown that Bitter Melon appears to influence sugar and fat metabolism in such a way as to counteract the negative effects of a high-fat diet. The herb has been used to lower blood sugar levels in diabetic patients. Four small clinical trials involving human subjects have shown that the juice, fruit and dried powder of bitter melon were found to have “moderate hypoglycemic effects”. Components of bitter melon “appear to have structural similarities to animal insulin.

  • JAMBOLIN SEED EXTRACT
Both animal and human studies have found that Jambolin Seeds help maintain normal blood sugar levels. A component of the Jambolan Seed, Jamboline, is thought to stop the excessive conversion of starch into sugar. The seed extract is widely used in Europe and in the tropics with diabetic patients.

  • VANADIUM (vanadyl sulfate)
Vanadium is a known anti-diabetic agent, as the trace mineral and its compounds exhibit potent insulin-like effects when used in pharmacological doses. Recent studies indicate that vanadium has a role in the management of diabetes in humans.
